Ayotunde Olubamibo is the first person to rap in Yoruba language as documented in the NETFLIX series [AFROBEATS – THE BACK STORY] His rap journey started when he raps in Yoruba as an experiment on a ‘ROCK SONG’ he featured with Ìfẹ́ Akín titled THE BEAST IN ME. He gained confidence from that track and later wrote more songs that lead to the ‘FIRST YORUBA RAP’ video song of GONNA MAKE IT. The follow up single was HARD TO SURVIVE/EKO SI LONDON and OTIFUNFUN.
Songs that became a Segway to one of Nigeria youngest and vibrant music genre, YORUBA RAP Which he coined as THE YORUBARZ. Yoruba, the language which majority of the music is composed in and Barz, the terminology musicians use to measure the length of music. The pioneer of Yoruba- Rap, aka Yorubarz. AY have team up with Ìfẹ́ Akín on a come-back trail and to celebrate the 20 years anniversary of Bawo Lose fe by releasing a joint new single title ‘DRUNK FOR YOUR LOVE’. More hit songs will follow this release with new feature artists under the new Elite Extreem Entertainment (EEE) platform.
ÌFÉ AKÍN is a SINGER / SONGWRITER / PRODUCER of his music, born in Kingston Upon Thames to a Nigerian parent. He came to prominence in the early 2000’s as the lead singer of a Nigeria Afro-Beat group POUNDS & NAIRA INC. The group was one of pioneers of Afro-Beats in the UK, they had two singles out during this period BAWO LOSEFE and SHOWA both songs have an India-Bangra fusion and was widely received in the UK and Nigeria at the time through radio and TV airplay, but the songs were not released.
The group was disbanded due to music differences and lack of management while Ife was working part-time between 2004-2006 for a black ethnic television station during this period. Ife then took a break from music but still kept recording away from the spotlight and joined the ethnic black broadcasting television station on SKY – BEN TELEVISION on a full time capacity from summer 2006 to help promote AFRO BEATS music and was head of operations, working with music outfits like the MOBO’S, Afro Beat Promoters and DJ’s – to promote Nigeria artists such as Tuface / D’Banj / 9ice and others until 2018 when he left BEN TELEVISION. Ìfẹ́ carried on recording from 2012 to date with multiple tracks that is enough to make 3 albums. To get a feel of his music, more singles and videos will be released from his debut album of 16 tracks titled 'IFE-MUSIC' from summer 2026.
